S. African Tourism Industry Gears Up for 2010 Soccer World Cup
The head of soccer's world governing body, Sepp Blatter and senior FIFA officials are in South Africa to view construction on 10 stadiums that are to host the 2010 soccer World Cup. The event is still three years away, but preparations are reaching a feverish pitch, especially in South Africa's tourism industry. To the sound of Zulu drumming and dancing, more than 1,600 tourism companies from South Africa and neighboring countries gathered in the southeastern city, Durban, for their annual trade fair, called Indaba. Organizers say Indaba is the third-largest tourism trade fair in the world. It showcases South Africa's $3 billion a year tourism industry, which has become the country's largest foreign-exchange earner.

New and strict Passport regulations required by visitors to South Africa...
The Immigration department at Cape Town International Airport has announced that it is required of visitors to South Africa to have at least one page empty in their passports, and for the travel document to be not less than 6 months to its expiry date. If these requirements are not met, guests will be sent back to their country of origin on the next flight, and will not be let out of the airport building. This has happened recently, and is being enforced strictly by Immigration. To guarantee a wonderful holiday in South Africa, please make sure to double-check your passports before departure.

Cape Town was also named the most improved airport in terms of overall customer satisfaction, ahead of Brussels; Halifax; Johannesburg and Minneapolis. ACSA Cape Town International previously won the award for best airport of its size in the first quarter of 2003, but no South African airport has ever won the annual award.
